An Effectively Massive RPG 06 Dec 2009 03:51:52

Oh, good. It'll be my turn to post next. :)

This is a kind of game that makes me wish I a) played PC games, and b) had the computer and the time (time being the most important thing) for something like this.

As for Bioshock, yes, I'll be sure to talk about that once the shrink wrap comes off and I play it. As my semester ends December 10, I may very well have a bit more time to play. Bioshock has managed to really pique my interest, which surprised even me, since first-person shooters are games I almost never play. I hope I'm not disappointed. And if I am, well...it was only $20.

Forget about the nukes, what about the caribou?! 13 Nov 2009 12:50:17

Yes, the voice acting does get better. I'm happy to say that many of the original cast does move on to the later games. The games get intricately more detailed and plot-heavy.

Now for something different--Tania, do you have any other contact info other than Skype? An AIM, Yahoo, or MSN screen name, maybe? A Facebook?

Yeah, the series is known for its hallmark Codec conversations. Breaking the 4th wall is a series trademark, as well as repeating what has been said to provide exposition.
It gets better in later games. The script for The Twin Snakes is exactly word-for-word from the PS1 game, re-recorded by the entire cast for the remake. The writing gets better as the series progresses.

The MGS series very much feels like playing through James Bond, especially the 3rd game. If you thought the GC remake was difficult, you'll find the PS1 version to be a joke in many places, but harder in some. For example, in the PS1 original, you do NOT have a tranquilizer gun to start. In fact, all you have is a knife until you find the SOCOM. Also, the entire game is played from a top-down view. No first person. However, the guards are such a pushover.

Glad you're gonna continue with the series.

He killed me with a sword. How weird is that? 16 Jun 2009 01:16:21

I'll wait on a X360 until I feel that there's enough games on it for me to justifiably get it--it's the same thought process that went into me getting a PS3. And besides, many of the games for the 360 end up being ported to PS3, like BioShock. So far, nothing catches my eye.

Now, the question is this: have you played the previous Fallout titles?

Not only that, but the biggest reason for me doing this is that in light of the results of past contests, it's clear that not everyone utilizes that ability--despite every battle post I make telling people, hell, even giving people the links to the other polls in each battle, not many took advantage of it. And for those people who only voted once, they were getting outvoted by those who actually weren't lazy and voted twice. Their fault, yes, but now we'll even the playing field. It'll be experimental for this contest--we'll see how it works, and if it doesn't, I'll go back to 2 votes per battle.

Hey, Magus! Long time no see--glad to see you're still around. Thanks for the feedback. I have to agree--this contest was one of the rare ones that followed a normal (more or less) way of going through the brackets--hardly any upsets, and more shocking, no tiebreakers.

I decided on Kingdom Hearts as the next theme because it's a wildly popular series. The first KH game came out in 2002, so I could certainly see the idea that it's a kid's series--the first KH game came out when I was 16. However, at least with me, there are people my age now, in their mid-20s who still love the series and have every intention of getting the new KH game for the DS in September, myself included. Since you say you know the characters in KH, I hope you end up participating in the next contest--it's been a while since you last joined. I am planning some changes for the next one.

It really doesn't matter. It could be multiple FROGs or just 1. Although I couldn't find a pic containing multiples.

No prob, I will supply you with all the material you will need. Basically, I give everyone a copy of the agenda, the battle results, and leaderboard--and then basically, it's open commentary and wit interspersed throughout.

Battles will close around 7:30 PM EDT, can we shoot for an 8 PM ET start? That would make it midnight or 1 AM GMT on your end...
